Success Story (One of Many)
A large national financial services company contracted with Off Duty Officers, Inc™. to provide consultation for a "routine" employee termination.
The Off Duty Officers, Inc™. representative was alerted to the employee's threats toward management. His experience and training regarding the nature of such threats was critical in this dangerous situation-he immediately made the appropriate recommendation to the client.
Knowing management members would be present at the termination hearing, our representative urged the precaution of a weapons search of the employee before he entered the hearing.
The search yielded a firearm, at which time our off duty officer detained the employee and called the police.
The employee was questioned by the police and subsequently admitted that his intention was to shoot all company management present at the hearing. His plan was to then drive back to the office and kill selected employees with the shotgun stored in the trunk of his car.
In court, he ultimately pled guilty to twelve counts of attempted murder.
"Possibly one of the most gratifying moments of my business career was the phone call I received in the evening from that client - the vice president present at the termination hearing."
"He said, 'I just wanted to thank you personally. I'm sitting here looking at my family right now and I'm very grateful to be alive.'"
